"Knowing God is so important that the Savior said, "And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent." (John 17:3).
The first and greatest commandment tells us, "Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind." (Matthew 22:37).
The more we know God, the more we love him and keep his commandments (<1_jn/2/3-5#3">1 John 2:3-5 "3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we <1_jn/2/3a">keep his commandments. 4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his <1_jn/2/4a">commandments, is a <1_jn/2/4b">liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoso <1_jn/2/5a">keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are <1_jn/2/5b">in him.). By keeping his commandments we can become like him."
