Unit 7: Perfecting Our Lives
Chapter 32: Tithes and Offerings
Concept 3: We Should Give Willingly

"It is important to give willingly.  "When one pays his tithing without enjoyment he is robbed of a part of the blessing.  He must learn to give cheerfully, willingly and joyfully, and his gift will be blessed" (Stephen L.  Richards, The Law of Tithing [pamphlet, 1983, p. 8], p.8).

The Apostle Paul taught that how we give is as important as what we give.  He said, "let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver." (2 Corinthians 9:7).

Discussion

2 Corinthians 9:6-7  "6 But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.
7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver."

What does it mean to give grudgingly?
Of what importance is the our attitude in our giving?"

Moroni 10:4-5
"4 And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.
5 And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things."
