Obituary Notices from the Greenville Mountaineer:
Death of Mrs. Rebecca Earle. This vernerable and estinable lady departed
life on Friday last, in the home of her daughter, Mrs. A. Benar, in this
place, with whom she had long lived, having passed the boundary of fourscore years,
and reached the advance age of eighty-seven! Mrs. Earle was a native of Virginia but
emigrated to this state sometime before the Revolution. Early in life she became the wife of Capt. John Wood with whom she lived until he fell a martyr to the cause of freedom. Five years from this time Mr. John Earle became the object of her affection. They were married in the latter part of the year 1787. Again left alone she devoted herself to her children. Early in life she attached herself to the Baptist Church. Spartanburg C.H. Mary 27 1839.
