Civil War Records. Census Records
   Story of John's death is the following:  He was killed in the Civil War
  and his family never knew what happen to him and several years after
   the war his wife married Calvin Painter. Events written on his war
   record: John enlisted 29 Aug 1862 In Polk Co. NC by  J. L. Ward for the
  period of 3 years or the War. He was a Private in Co. G 60 Regiment NC
   Infantry (State Troops)  He died in a hospital at Ringgold, Catoosa, GA
   of Chronic Dysentery 13 Feb. Death papers signed by Robt. C. Foster,
   Surgeon PAC8, in charge of hospital.  On 25 April 1863 His father,
   Larkin Mc Ginnis, received the body and personal processions.  On 28 May
  1863 his Widow A.H. Mc Ginnis received a pension through the Confederate
  States in the amount of $117.20.

David T. (Thompson) WOODWARD, moved with his parents, James & Jane (HYDEN)
WOODWARD, from Lee Co., Va., to Sangamon Co., Illinois in 1836.  Converted at
age 11, he was a life-long member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, and was
ordained a minister early in life. Rev. WOODWARD preached in Sangamond, Logan, Mc Lean, and De Witt Counties in Illinois, before he and his second wife, Sarah, moved their family to Kansas, ariving in May of 1856, takin a claim two miles south of Clinton, which was his home for the remainder of his life, which he spent preachin the Gospel in over a hundred diffrent places in Kansas.

   The Woodward twins, aged 78, celebrated their birthday.  They were Charles and E.G and they have lived in the Apple Pie neighborhood all their lives.  Their father was a poineer minister who helped settle the comunity in 1835."

  An enjoyable occasion was the gathering held Sunday, October 18th at the home of Merrit Woodward, when Charley Woodward and his twin brother E. G. Woodward, celebrated their seventy-eight birthday.
  These men are Douglas County's pioneer twins, and were born on the farm south Clinton that their father homesteaded when he came to Kansas in the early 50's.
  The Woodward family has been one active in all comunity affairs.
  About fifty guest, with well filled baskets, gathered about noon, a bountiful dinner being served.  A speical treate was ice cream furnished by Mr. and Mrs Harry Green.
  Mrs. Laura Warner of La Junta, Colorado, a sister of the Woodward's, was a guest.
  Those present for the dinner were:

Fought in Civil War

Fought in Civil War, member 15th Kansas Calvary Company D.  Mustered out in 1865 after three years of service.

Came by boat with father and family in 1844 to Missouri  --  landing at Weston and going overland to Holt County.

Located on a claim where present-day Des Moines, Iowa now stands.  Moved to Kansas in 1854.  Located near Clinton, Douglas County until 1880 when they moved to Scranton, Osage, Kansas.  Returned to Missouri in 1893 after the death of his wife Caroline, and then married Matilda (Caroline's sister) in 1895.  He died in Missouri but is buried next to his wife Caroline in Carbondale Cem, Scranton, Osage, Kansas.
